How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind while attempting to carry out tasks which would have otherwise required working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the best alternative for carrying jobs from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted inside the base of the lift. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any specialized tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
The machinery needs to be positioned next to an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button situated near the control box or the charger, inside the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, models that are older will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place which is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger can likely take place.
