Forklift Training and Forklift Safety:
Forklift safety training is the responsibility of the employer. It is in the employer's best interests to spend money on forklift training for all employees. Improperly used forklifts can cause property damage. Businesses can be sued if there are injuries. It's worthwhile to make sure that anyone using a forklift is trained well to do so.

The best way to ensure safe forklift operation is to require each worker to attend a forklift training course.

All employees should be aware of forklift basics. Safety information must be provided in the form of handouts, and posted in posters and warning signs. The following are some essential forklift safety and training tips:

1) Every worker must be qualified to utilize a forklift. Never take risks with such large machinery. Forklift training should be taken really seriously.

2) Seat belts should always be used by forklift operators. Just because the forklift moves slowly doesn't mean that seat belts can be ignored. Accidents are less likely to result in personal injuries when seat belts are worn.

3) A system wherein employees report instances of damage or mechanical problems must be established. As the employer, you have to create an efficient and effective reporting system which is really easy to learn. Workers should be correctly trained in forklift basics so that they can detect and report problems when they arise.

4) Training employees to lean away from the turn, and stay in the cab even when there is a chance of overturning is very important. Employees must not jump out. That's the best way to avoid serious injury.

5) Workers should be trained about the weight capacity limit of the forklift. A major cause of forklift mishaps is related to tip overs caused by lifting too big a load. Staff must really know how much they could lift safely. A tip over can damage the whole forklift. Overloading is the biggest safety mistake a worker can make.
