During the year 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case within Racine. He began building threshing machinery. The company later gained international recognition as the initial builder of steam engines for its agricultural use. Eventually, the business grew to become the world's biggest producers of steam engines.

Case had established themselves in the construction equipment industry by 1912. They became a producer of road building machinery including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction machine business through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their business by the mid-1990s to become the top manufacturer of medium-sized to light-sized construction equipment.

Case merged with the company New Holland during the year 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising some of the globe's leading brands of construction and agricultural machines.
