A type of equipment in the material handling business that can be utilized to lift and move loads from one place to another is known as a forklift. Each forklift component has a specific function. Various components could be utilized to transport the load vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components which lift and lower the load. There are different kinds of masts for raising loads to different heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
Forklifts have four various ways of being powered: gas, electric, diesel and propane. The battery is situated inside the cab under the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is underneath the rear of the truck.
Cab
Located within the middle of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The gas pedal, steering wheel, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all located within the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the largest forklift parts is the frame of the truck. This includes the counterweights situated at the rear which prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
