Kinds of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machinery which enables personnel to carry out tasks without having to build a scaffolding. They are used to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common equipment found in warehouse and factory environment too.

Typically, construction lifts provide wheeled and powered bases that are capable of driving to the work place and have a platform on them which is responsible for lifting personnel. There are many various kinds of lifts and each one is suited to different tasks and environment.

Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, which are usually known as "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom that has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where an employee could stand. Normally, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers normally use these machinery to cut trees.

Bucket trucks are outfitted with a boom assembly which is mounted on a standard truck, and this means these lifts could travel on roads at regular traffic speeds. This mobility greatly increases the area they can effectively service. This is particularly important for power companies. Like for example, many of these businesses use cherry pickers to raise employees up so they could work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets should be inspected on a regular basis and insulated properly as they are working near possible shock hazards.

Articulated booms lifts or knuckle lifts include a work platform mounted to an arm which can bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and can turn the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.

Articulated boom lifts are utilized for landscaping projects and are useful for maintenance work on already-completed projects which do not need easy access to the area directly underneath the jobsite. These lifts can be used for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, as well as areas which are hard to clean. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the extended boom.
